With the Hermits of Karoulia and Katounakia

At the southern tip of the peninsula, where the rock falls vertically into the sea, lie Karoulia and Katounakia — the 'desert' of Mount Athos. Here live the hermits, in cells clinging to the cliff, with chains and ropes for paths.
